DILG slates regional summit on disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation

The Department of the Interior and Local Government will hold a series of regional summits aimed to promote advocacy on the institutionalization of disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation and mitigation among local government units nationwide. Disaster Risk and Climate Change are present-day phenomena. Recent events have exposed the country’s vulnerability to various natural disasters and calamities.

Bohol to host DILG – LGSP-LED training on gender and development
As part of its efforts to break down the barriers that limit women’s participation in local economic development, the Local Governance Support Program for Local Economic Development (LGSP-LED) will be conducting a two-day training on “Gender and Development (GAD) Mainstreaming in Local Economic Development”. The training will be held on February 23-24, 2012 at the Metro Center Hotel and Convention Center in Tagbilaran City, Bohol. This will be participated by around 30 GAD Focal Persons from LGSP-LED assisted Provinces and LGU Alliances, including the Panglao-Dauis-Baclayon-Bohol Marine Triangle Management Council, Inc. (PaDaYon BMT, Inc.), headed by Mayor Jaime C. Jimenez of Dauis, Bohol. Also expected to attend are the DILG Provincial LED Focal Persons, who are supporting these LGUs.

Bohol, Cebu City and AMLAN are top recipients of Gawad Pamanang Lahi Award
Following the DILG’s launching of a total award concept for exemplary performance in local governance, Bohol Province, Cebu City and Amlan, Negros Oriental emerged as top recipients in Central Visayas of the DILG’s GawadPamanangLahi Award. The Local Chief Executives of said LGUs were given recognition last October 11, 2011 at the PICC Plenary Hall in Metro Manila during the Culmination Rites of the celebration of the 20th year of the Local Autonomy in the Philippines.

DILG7 confers Seal of Good Housekeeping to 16 recipient CV LGUs
The sixteen (16) recipient Local Government Units of Region 7 were given the Seal of Good Housekeeping Award for their good governance performance in internal housekeeping particularly in the areas of Good Planning, Sound Fiscal Management, Transparency and Accountability, and Valuing Performance Management. These are, namely, the Municipalities of Balilihan,Maribojoc, Clarin, Dauis, Loboc, Panglao, Pres. Carlos P. Garcia, San Miguel, Jagna and Ubay, from Bohol Province, the City Canlaon and the Municipalities of Amlan, Tanjay, Bacong, Dauin, San Jose from the Negros Oriental Province.

The regional conferment ceremony took place on September 27, 2011 at the Marco Polo Plaza Hotel, Lahug, Cebu City.

Bohol And Neg-Or Provinces, Cebu City Cited As The Country’s Top In Governance
THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) disclosed on Sunday the country’s top performing provinces, highly urbanized and independent cities for 2010 based on the performance result of the Department’s Local Governance Performance Management System (LGPMS), among which are the Provinces of Bohol and Negros Oriental and Cebu City.
